Breighton’s inaugural Best of British day celebrating iconic British aircraft, classic military vehicles, cars and motorcycles was a fantastic celebration of the very best of British engineering and heritage. Guest aircraft included the delightful Blackburn B2, a 1930’s era biplane first flown from Blackburn’s factory airfield at Brough, East Yorkshire, in 1931, Hawker Hurricane V7497, a Battle of Britain veteran, and De Havilland DH.89A Dragon Rapide G-AGTM, a 1930s short-haul biplane airliner. Dozens of visiting aircraft, including a pair of Tiger Moths, augmented by the RAC fleet of historic aircraft, all added to the spectacle. A number of Lotus cars added a splash of colour, and there was period musical entertainment by Ashlea Lauren – all-in-all a resounding success.
The event was chosen to officially launch the Real Aeroplane Charitable Organisation.
