Our annual G-George 1940’s Weekend is being extended to 2 days in 2026 and will include an evening Spitfire display by not one, but TWO Spitfires on Saturday evening. The important dates are the 15th-16th of August. Gates open at 10am Saturday and Sunday. G-George takes its name from Avro Lancaster B1 (W4783), known with affection as “G for George”. The aircraft was delivered to 460 Squadron (RAAF) at RAF Breighton in October 1942 and flew ninety operational missions over Germany and occupied Europe during the height of the bomber offensive. Everyone on the Squadron knew G-George as a ‘lucky’ Lancaster and having completed in excess of 90 missions it would seem that they were right. The aircraft survived the war and was flown to Australia where it is displayed at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. Activities include aircraft movements, classic vehicles and displays, reenactors and military displays. Keep a look out for further details on our socials, this is going to be bigger and better than previous years – you won’t want to miss it!

A number of events are held at Breighton Airfield throughout the year, ranging from themed aircraft fly-ins to historic bicycle demonstrations, classic car meets and craft events. Many of these are organised for and/or on behalf of the Real Aeroplane Charitable Organisation but a number are staged by organisations choosing Breighton as the venue for their own.
